Join Katie Ohe and Harry Kiyooka at the KOAC Art Pavilion Fundraising Gala + Art Auction. These two eminent Alberta artists and the founders of the KOAC/Kiyooka Ohe Arts Centre + Sculpture Park are joining with over 50 nationally and internationally renowned contemporary artists from across Canada, who have generously donated impressive artwork to raise much needed funds – through live and silent art auction – for the completion of KOAC’s Art Pavilion: a non-profit, dynamic, interactive visual arts facility dedicated to the research, education and presentation of the best in Canadian and international art for all communities.
The roster of contributing artists includes: Derek Besant, Evan Penny, Derek Beaulieu, Alexandra Haeseker, Helena Hadala, Eric Cameron, Peter Deacon, Ron Kostyniuk, John Will, William Laing, Noboru Sawai, Reinhard Skoracki, William Duma, Brent Laycock, Mark Dicey, Alex Caldwell, Walter May, Gordon Ferguson, John Kenneth Esler, Herbert Siebner, Geoffrey Hunter, Errol Lee Fullen, Robert Sinclair, Phil Darrah, Teresa Posyniak, Linda Craddock, John Dean, Greg Robb, and many others.
KOAC is the first arts centre in Alberta to be dedicated exclusively to the promotion and presentation of Contemporary Art. On 20 acres of rolling prairie with exceptional views of the Rocky Mountains, The Centre will host exhibitions, artists’ residencies, workshops and symposia in a tranquil, natural environment. Envisioned as primarily showcasing art in nature, the Centre features sculpture and botanical gardens, natural wetlands habitat and a gallery Pavilion.
There is a terrific interview with Harry & Katie presented by CTV NEws last week. You can see it here, at CTV News. It tells the story better than we can and is worth a look!
In 2011, a Three Step Development Plan was introduced that consists of three phases that began in 2012. Phase 1 consisted of infrastructure, roadway, fencing, services and utilities that was funded by a matching grant from Municipal District of Rocky View. Phase 2 consisted of Wetlands Remediation that was also funded by the Municipal District of Rocky View. These are now complete. Phase 3 consists of the construction of the Pavilion.
We invite you to come together with other arts aficionados and revolutionary bohemians to an evening of artistically-infused celebration featuring a live art auction to be conducted by Calgary’s own Doug Levis and his team from the prestigious Levis Fine Arts Auction, an internationally renowned print artist, curator and guest speaker: Derek Besant from Calgary, silent art auction, art raffle, contemporary music, light hors d’oeuvres + cash bar, and much more. The renowned Calgary wrestler, Bret “The Hitman” Hart is the Honorary Fundraising Chairperson.
It’s sure to be a smack down!
Cant make it but love the project?
